MY VILLAGE

I live in a small town in South Sulawesi called Selayar. It is located in the South Sulawesi Island, so far from Makassar city. Selayar consists of ten region. They are: Benteng, Bonto Haru, Botosikuyu, Bontomate’ne, Bontomanai’, Pasimarannu, East Pasimasunggu, West Pasimasunggu, Pasilambeng, and Takabonerate. The capital city of Selayar is Benteng.

Most of puplation in Selayar are Buginese and Makassar. Most of them are fishermen because Selayar island is rounded by sea. They get income from sea for their family. Some of them also work as farmers. There are many kinds of plants can grow there, for example, clove, chocolate, and orange. But most of them have coconut garden.

In Selayar, we can also see many tourism objects, for example, Gong Nakara, cannon, a giant yoke, Balloya beach, and Suttia waterfall, etc. They are the important incomes for Selayar. Not only that, Selayar still has uniques.

Although Selayar only a small town, but it has more traditional cultures than the others. Population of selayar are polite and also have a big shy. So I’am very proud to be a part of Selayar.

BITTER MEMORY

There was my friend’s experience that I can’t forget in my mind until now. It can be called her bitter memory because it made her very disappointed with her father. Whereas he was a man that she admire up until now because he always gave motivation and suggestion. He is seldom angry with her. He always gave her what she wanted.

That problem was happened when she was on the second grade in senior high school. In her village, built TK/TPA, but this program didn’t have many teachers, so her father told her to teach there. But at that time, she didn’t go there because she thought that she studied and she is busy with her school and there are many teenagers in her village.

Everyday her father always told her that she must teach there. Therefore, she was bored with her father’s words that always out from his mouth. So that, she gave an unreasonable answer like, “I don’t wanna go because I am sleepy, I am lazy.” It made her father angry to her and said if he didn’t want to teach in TK/TPA she must get out from her house. What the people said if she didn’t teach there, however, she graduated from Islamic boarding school. She was very startled and there was no word can out from her lip. She just cried. Suddenly her grandmother came and huge her and said that her father was just kidding to her.

At night, she thought that she mustgo out from her house but she didn’t find a reason and finally she told her mother that she wanted to move to her uncle’s house. And then, her mother said asked her why she wanted to stay there. She answered and gave explanation that she wanted to live there because her school was not far from there. So she didn’t need much money to go to her school. Her mother agreed with her.

On Sunday afternoon, her grandmother brought her to her uncle’s house. In the first day, she was very nervous and shy with them but she could neutralize it because her grandfather still stayed there. In the second day, her grandmother was back to her home. She was very shy but her nervous was lost. The third day, she started to adapt with the situation in there and finally she could intimate with her neighbors and she stayed until she passed the examination.
